Movie Review: Safe House

6:13 PM

Special thanks again to Nuffnang for giving me the opportunity to watch the premiere of Safe House. :)

Duration: 115 mins
Genre: Action, Crime, Mystery
Director:  Daniel Espinosa
Casts: Denzel Washington, Ryan Reynolds, Vera Farmiga, Brendan Gleeson, Sam Shepard, Ruben Blades, Nora Arnezeder, Robert Patrick, Liam Cunningham, Joel Kinnaman, Fares Fares

Synopsis
This movie is about Matt Weston (Ryan) who is a young CIA agent who met Tobin Frost (Denzel) when Tobin was brought into the safe house. During the interrogation the safe house was attacked, and to fulfill his task, Matt escaped with Tobin and took the responsibility to bring Tobin to the CIA no matter what it takes. However along the way, things happened  and disrupted Matt's plans. Slowly Matt started to see and realize things and wondered if he's doing the right thing.

My Opinion
Firstly, I think Ryan Reynolds is hot. From the first time I saw him (The Proposal, Green Latern) and now in Safe House, I notice that he is slowly moving from chick flicks to action movies. But the character that was given to him in this movie did not make him look as hot though. The first few parts of Ryan's role was a bit unrealistic. In the beginning they showed him as someone who's new/noob, like he doesn't know what to do when the attacked happened, but next thing you see him moving around like a hero. Denzel Washington again played another cool role, where he has skills and wisdom.

Some of the parts I thought was a little boring, but that is only at the beginning. When the real action begins that's when you have to start paying attention to everything they do to get the story. The flow for the excitement of this movie is down up down up up. This movie also requires you to think while watching, so if you feel tired or sleepy, keep this movie for another day/night. A lot of actions scenes were unpredictable for me, that I actually got shocked quite a few times, and by shocked I mean like fast heart beats.

I like and dislike the ending. Don't get what I mean? Maybe after you watch you'll get it. :)

Rate: I've decided to not rate movies because everyone may have different expectations. Those who watch movies often may think differently than those who rarely watch.

Check out the trailer. :)

Oh yes while queuing for the tickets I noticed how long the lines were for Nuffnang bloggers. I did not take a picture of the counter where people buy tickets, but that side was pretty empty.

The line was so long that people had to make an L line.

Till all the way out here. Haha

  2. Hello! The thing is different people probably have different expectations from movies like I've mentioned in this post. People who always watch action movies will expect more and more every time they watch another new movie. Where as people who rarely watch action movies will think it's a WOW. Haha so in the end it really depends on individual. Personally for me, I watch movies moderately, and I think this movie was ok, but I won't say it's bad. If i were to rate, it'll be 7/10. :)
