My First IPL Treatment Experience.

11:59 PM

About a month ago I was invited by Strip to experience IPL underarm treatment. Despite my curiosity towards this treatment, I was also a little nervous as I did not know the process of it. I asked my friends who have done IPL before and I've gotten different feedback.

"It doesn't hurt at all."

"It hurts a little, if you plan to do IPL for Brazilian, better try under arms first."

"It hurts a little because they use the laser to burn off your hair."

"It doesn't really hurt, just a little ticklish."

Thankfully I don't have to wonder anymore! If you are wondering whether you need to leave your underarm hair long for this treatment, the answer is... at Strips, you do not need to. :)

I did ask about leaving the underarm hair long as someone once told me that before, but the therapist told me that if the hair is too long I would feel the heat and the burn from the hair, which makes sense.
During the treatment, I had to remove my top but not the bra. The therapist then layed me down with a blanket and gave me a special glasses to protect my eyes from the laser light. She also put some really cold gel on my underarm and then the treatment begins.

What does it feel like?
It felt like something moving in circular motion on my underarm area. Was it ticklish? For me it wasn't, in fact I didn't feel anything at all other than something moving in circular motion. It was a very quick treatment that took about 5 to 10 minutes.
The therapist then told me, after the treatment to wait about 4 weeks and I'll notice some hair falling off on it's own. To be honest I did not think that it would make any difference since people have been telling me that ONE time IPL treatment would not show much results.
As I was waiting for 4 weeks to pass, in between I noticed that I did not need to shave my underarm daily anymore, in fact I only shaved it after a few weeks! I did notice some grown hair after a month, but the hair was very fine and light so it was not visible.
So if you're looking for IPL treatment that actually works, I would highly recommend to get it done at Strips. Contact them at and make an appointment!
